We were camping in the Beaver Mountains for Ashlyn's birthday. It was my family reunion. She loved the mountains and playing in the dirt, even though I didn't let her play in it much. : ) We just decided to lay a blanket out and let her have her party right there with all of her cousins. She wasn't real interested at first but once she realized what it was about she got pretty excited. She loved ripping the paper off of her presents. I think she liked that more than the gift itself. (but isn't that always the case!!) She got some clothes, a play cell phone, a walking/ riding toy, and some books. She also got a soft pink blanket and a little laptop computer thing that plays music from Grandma and Grandpa Albrecht. She got some really cute clothes from Uncle Blair and Aunt Vanessa. She was pretty spoiled I think.
My mom and I made her little rocking horse cake. It turned out better than I thought, I was pretty proud of it! ;) She wasn't quite sure what she was supposed to do with it, so I helped her get a handful and she started eating. She got a few handfuls on her own, but mostly she picked up the smaller crumb pieces and ate those. She was having a blast though, if you can't tell by the pictures. She would eat one handful and then the other, then she would pick little crumbs up and eat them, then she would lick her fingers and go back for more. I think she had a good time!
Ashlyn is walking now and tearing my house apart as fast as she can. She loves to dance, talk on the phone, read books, eat, swim, and sing songs. She is very very busy and hard to keep up with. I still can't believe she is 1 already, I can't believe how fast time goes by. It seems like yesterday when we brought her home from the hospital, so tiny and precious. She has brought so much joy, love, and happiness in our home. I can't remember what it was like before her. We love her so much and are so grateful for such a wonderful daughter!!!!!!
